Trail Builders - June Update

It is almost the summer solstice and as the dirt begins to dry (last week notwithstanding!) we are rounding the corner into our summer work. This summer our Trail Builders hope to brush out some sections of trail which have gotten overgrown, complete repair work on rockery walls, add rock armoring to sections of the flow trail, and take a well-earned vacation (August).

We've had great and enthusiastic turnouts at our last few trail days and hope we can keep the streak alive through June and July. There is an inspiring sense of camaraderie at our work parties and we hope that all of our volunteers enjoy the satisfaction of contributing to this larger effort. Mount Vernon's trail system at Little Mountain Park is something our community should pride itself on both for what it is (an awesome, accessible, multi-use trail network) and how it got (and stays) there- through a truly collaborative partnership between our Trail Builders, Mount Vernon Parks Foundation, and the City of Mount Vernon, and the many other people who do their part to come out and help along the way.  We hope to see you out there this summer, and happy solstice!
